ABOUT

Pierre Belenfant, french amateur photographer currently living in Paris.

I’ve been practicing photography as a self-taught since 2013. My vision is based on an aesthetic and philosophical sensitivity for black and white. Passionate about photography, I want to attempt at my amateur level to produce aesthetically pleasing photographies. Most of my photographies are characterised by strong contrasts and deep blacks with an enigmatic and dark atmosphere. On this website, I display only a few of my photographies, most of which are on my Instagram. If I have the opportunity, I take part in photography contests on Photocrowd and sometimes in international contests for my “fine art” photographies. This year, I had the pleasure and honor to receive a nomination from Fine Art Photography Awards FAPA 2018.

Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Though wise men at their end know dark is right,
Because their words had forked no lightning they
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Dylan Thomas, Do not go gentle into that good night, 1951

Why did I chose this poem of Dylan Thomas ? This poem has been a part of the popular culture for some time now. This is only an extract, popularised by the Film “Interstellar” by Christopher Nolan in 2014. I really like this extract because I found that in a way, it reflects my style. With that in mind, I let the viewer form his own interpretation and find a link between this poem and my work.
